Year 1 – Mrs Watson

Welcome to Year 1! We are incredibly excited for all the topics and activities we have planned this year! 

Reading 

Reading books will be changed on a MONDAY and a THURSDAY.  

We encourage children to read at home everyday with an adult. I cannot stress the importance of you listening to your child read everyday. This can just be two pages, every little helps. Reading is the foundation to their learning. Please ensure that you send their book bags with their reading books into school every day.  

We also have a special reading chart – where those children who read at least 5 times a week will receive a certificate and a treat. This will be completed every Monday! 

PE kits 

• Wednesday and Thursday – PE (yoga/ dance indoors) 
• Friday – Outdoor PE (Come rain or shine). Our PE session is the last lesson so your child will come home in their PE kits with their uniform in their PE bag. This will allow you to clean them throuoghly before the following week. 
• Please keep the bit about what to wear on that is already on the website 

Tuck Money – SAME AS ON WEBSITE 

COOKING MONEY – Cooking money = £2 for the half term (50p per session) 

We will be cooking every other week. 

Immersive Suite – We will be using the immersive suite for the full day on alternate weeks to cooking. 

Water bottles – if you would like your child to have a water bottle in school, this is ok but must only contain water. They will be sent home every night for cleaning. 

Spellings – Children will be sent home with new spellings on a Friday for a spelling test the following Friday. The spellings are always carefully chosen to help with their reading and linked to the phonics lessons in school. 

Uniform – Please name everything!! We already have a few jumpers that have no home due to not having a child’s name in them!
